Throughout my years both cooking and baking I’ve learned many different terms, techniques, and rules for the kitchen. I’ve realized in talking to many people, especially newer or less confident home cooks, that many of these kitchen “know-hows” are a foreign concept to them. Not everyone understands when a recipe calls for a julienne cut, or to simmer, or how to scald milk. Because of this even a simple recipe can feel daunting when you do not understand the language. But no worries, I am here to help!
I’ve decided to launch a new page on my blog called “How-To” which will provide all of the information necessary for someone to learn “how-to” do certain things in the kitchen. I’ve broken up the page into two categories for easier navigation: How-To Baking and How-To Cooking. I will continually add to both of these so that in time it becomes an expansive resource that will help every home cook navigate a recipe successfully in their own kitchen.
The first post that will be added will be for chocolate ganache simply because I thought it was a good place to start after having just blogged about different uses for leftover ganache. Be sure to look for that post in the next day or so under the How-To Baking section. If there is something you would like to learn or have me add please feel free to either comment on this page or contact me via email and I will be happy to address your needs and questions as best I can.
Thank you for your continued support of this blog and I hope that you enjoy the new “How-To” section of this site!
